Energy & Sustainability
At WP3, we help clients decarbonise today while designing resilient, future-ready buildings for tomorrow.
From early design strategy to handover, WP3 Energy delivers integrated energy and sustainability services that inform decisions, de-risk delivery and create healthy, efficient spaces that people love.
Our work brings clarity to complex requirements, balancing performance, compliance and cost to enhance long-term asset value.
Our Approach
Early Insight
We engage early to shape the brief and guide design decisions where they matter most. Using parametric simulation, we rapidly test thousands of design variables – from façade and glazing options to ventilation strategies and plant sizing – to map the optimal balance of comfort, energy use and cost.
We forecast likely EPC ratings at concept stage and assess upgrade routes to achieve targets such as EPC B by 2030. By reviewing Part L, Part O, Part F and local planning requirements upfront, we highlight compliance gaps early and set out clear, costed pathways to meet them.
Decarbonisation and optimisation
We predict real operational energy using TM54 methods, giving design teams a true picture of how buildings will perform in use. Our analysis identifies key energy drivers, enabling long-term strategies to cut consumption.
We assess solar PV potential, model yields and evaluate storage and demand-shifting options to maximise on-site generation. Through whole-life decarbonisation roadmaps, we establish today’s baseline and test future-proof measures across fabric, plant, controls and renewables to deliver meaningful carbon reduction.
De-risking compliance
Our strategic energy assessments align with national policy, planning guidance and sustainability frameworks, helping teams set robust, achievable carbon targets.
Through thermal modelling, system optimisation and renewable integration, we ensure designs meet regulatory requirements efficiently. The result is a lean, compliant building with right-sized systems that minimise waste and long-term operational costs.
Sustainability and performance certification
We support industry-leading certification schemes by delivering robust energy and environmental modelling for BREEAM, LEED, WELL, NABERS and Passivhaus requirements.
Our in-house accredited specialists (BREEAM AP, WELL AP, NABERS Energy for Offices) provide clear analysis, evidence and optimisation strategies to help projects secure credits, enhance occupant wellbeing and demonstrate high-performing, low-carbon design.
