Faces of WP3 – Glen Warren
In our Faces of WP3 series, we sit down with members of the team to explore what drives them, their industry insights, and life behind the scenes.
Next up, we’re introducing our Operations Director, Glen Warren.
– Tell us a bit about your career path. What led you to this role?
After leaving school, I nearly went into banking like my father – but weekends helping a family friend in plumbing quickly changed that. I swapped the suit for tools and never looked back. At 16, I joined Ashford’s, the country’s leading HVAC & Water Treatment specialist, where I spent 14 years building my career across engineering, project management and commissioning. Supporting some of the country’s leading contractors and clients during this period, I was managing large project teams and delivering management services across a range of sectors. Working on major London projects, including Schroders 1 London Wall, I met WP3’s founders – and the rest is history!
Five years on, we’ve grown WP3 into a trusted partner for commissioning management, operations, validation, energy and design consultancy.
– Can you tell us more about your role as Operations Director?
As Operations Director and part of the ownership team, I focus on driving growth, strengthening processes, and ensuring high-quality delivery across all projects for our clients.
My role spans commercial and resource management, bid support, quality assurance and project delivery – while supporting and developing our growing team of engineers, managers and consultants. I take great pride in our unrivalled quality and delivery processes, our extensive range of services and our relationships with our clients and supply chain partners which only continue to grow.
– What are some of the biggest challenges the industry is facing right now?
Consistency is a big challenge – whether that’s quality control, documentation, or structured delivery. Commissioning is also often brought in too late, missing key early-stage value.
There’s also a growing skills gap across the UK, the need for well-trained, experienced professionals has never been greater, especially considering the rapidly growing data centre and critical environment sectors. Rising technical complexity, integration with old infrastructure, system developments and AI becoming more prolific within the industry would further highlight the importance of training and experienced personnel.
– What do you do to relax outside of work?
Life outside work revolves around my two young children and my fiancé. I’m a big football fan (being a Spurs supporter isn’t exactly relaxing!), and I enjoy combat sports, F1, darts, cooking and music. I haven’t quite mastered golf yet but that’s up next.
You’ll usually find me hosting friends and family around the BBQ – rain or shine – with a cold beer in hand.
